Escape From Alcatraz Triathlon 2008

Taylor and I took this trip - with friend Jocelyn in tow to the Bay Area for a crazy weekend. We stayed at the Friedli's who Taylor got to know well while babysitting for them. Wonderful hosts and I really appreciated them having us over. The race itself was wild. We had to get to the pier at the wharf hours early to take a boat out to Alcatraz. When we got in front of it all of a sudden it was go time and everyone was jumping off the boat! The swim was easier than I expected, the bike was neat going around San Francisco...but was very bumpy, and then the run was really cool heading around the peninsula and hitting up some stairs on the way back to the finish. I hadn't training for this race but still had a great time and was able to see Taylor kick my butt! Never again!
