Nanny Goat 100 - 2012

I was totally amped about this race.  Race headquarters was just off the Canal that I train on.  So getting to the Sexton Ranch a day early and scoring a sweet pole position stall for our personal aid station was a success.  Last year Steve slaughtered the 12 hour and I was able to run a dozen miles with him for fun.  I was hooked and it was time for my go at this circus event.  The course consists of a 1 mile loop around the horse ranch.  With a 100 belt buckle already in hand I was looking for a solid 100 mile PR.  On race day it was great having Taylor support me, seeing my parents stop by, being on course with friends, and struggling around a 1 mile loop with so many people who I had gotten to know over the short 1 year span I had been in the ultrarunning world........but it just wasn't my day.  I called it somewhere around the 50k mark. A bit of a scare with the tummy but all appears to be functioning proper a couple of weeks post race.  The food was good, the company great, and I enjoyed watching the success of others. Jana and Richele both completed their first ultra distance race, Harry was able to get to 59 miles in the 12 hour, and Steve won the 24 hour race with 122 miles! Due to the race being so close to my house this will likely become a household staple event.  I see revenge on this course in my future!

*Update. The official results say I hit 34 miles. Yipee. I know I was at that mark in 6 hours ish. So maybe the lesson is that I went out too fast. eh. (06-02-2012)

**I replaced the photos with my rad video...yay!    (02-2013)

JackRabbit 4 Hour - Race Director - 2012

I decided that since a lot of my crew had their eyes set on rockin' it at the Nanny Goat 12/24 hour race nearby we should have a prep event.  In addition it would also be my birthday celebration!  Yay!  I had a blast and a lot more people showed than I could have ever imagined.  Less than a minute after the finish people were asking when the next "JackRabbit" event was taking place.  It must have been the Coca Cola as the awards to the finishers.

Calico 50k Trail Run

I took off down the asphalt.  Kicked butt heading up the sand of the riverbed.  I even kept a good pace going up the hills in the middle of the race.  The longggg downhill killed my legs.  I was beat up but was able to finish with a decent time and a new 50k personal record.  It was not close to my goal time but it was nice to get a solid run in to start off the year.  Taylor came home with a podium finish in her age group.  Steve rocked it as always.  I look forward to what the rest of the year has to offer!

Las Vegas Rock n Roll 26.2

We decided to come back to give it another go!  Revenge....   We the course and the incompetent race directors won this one.  At 13 miles the marathon course joined the half marathoners causing a road block due to them walking.  This on top of the freezing cold temperatures caused havoc.  I decided to wait for Taylor at an aid station near a band.  We walked together quite a bit and ended up finishing together and decided that we will likely never do another competitor.  They suck because they made running no fun =(

Torture test - complete.

Javelina Jundred 100 Miler - 2011

Goal #1 accomplished. I finished! 25:57 and change at my first 100 - The JJ100 which was actually 101.4 miles. I ended up in 83rd out of 337 starters. I couldn't have done it without my Boog - my crew chief and tent snuggler. We had an epic bone chilling 15.4 mile hike at 12AM that will never be forgotten. It defined insane and love all at once.  There was crazy rain, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, shoes swallowing quick sand, freezing temperatures, and the most awesome conditions ever!

I greatly appreciate all of the messages and support via online, phone, esp, and whatever else I am forgetting.  I need some sleep. I haven't had any since Friday night. Thanks again everyone!
